I grew up chasing unpaved roads. Born and raised in the Aegean interior, I spent my childhood summers following my grandfather along mule tracks that the maps had already forgotten. By the time I was old enough to travel alone, I had already understood something that most guidebooks never acknowledge: Turkey's most honest beauty lives far from the signposted sites — in the half-ruined Byzantine waypoints of the Phrygian Valley, in the cedar-scented silence of the Taurus foothills, in village squares where tea arrives before questions do. For more than two decades, I have walked, cycled, and driven those margins, filling notebooks rather than Instagram feeds.
This site grew out of a simple frustration. Every time I tried to plan a route through a lesser-known corner of Anatolia, I found either hollow commercial content padded with affiliate links, or academic texts too dense to be useful on the road. I wanted something in between — precise, honest, and written by someone who had actually stood there. So I began publishing my own route documents: GPS-verified paths, candid assessments of terrain difficulty, seasonal advice, and cultural context drawn from the people I met along the way. No sponsored gear. No hotel partnerships. No ranking games. Just the route, accurately described.
ÖMER MANDACI will remain permanently non-commercial and free to use. I accept no advertising, no affiliate arrangements, and no payment of any kind for route recommendations. Every path documented here has been walked or driven by me personally, usually more than once and in different seasons. If a route is dangerous, I say so. If the promised viewpoint is underwhelming, I note that too. My only commitment is to accuracy and to the rare, genuine pleasure of helping another traveller find a corner of Turkey they would otherwise have missed entirely.
These are not aspirations or marketing language. They are the operating rules this project has followed since the first route was published — and the reason readers trust what they find here.
No ads. No affiliates. No agenda.
ÖMER MANDACI has never accepted sponsorships, affiliate commissions, or paid placements — and never will. Every recommendation you read here exists because a place genuinely earned it on its own merits. There are no banner ads, no "best hotel" lists funded by hotel chains, and no subtle nudges toward paid partners. What you get is an honest account, shaped only by curiosity and experience.
Every path personally traced.
No route on this site is assembled from other websites or second-hand accounts. Every trail, coastal road, valley track, and village lane described here has been walked, driven, or extensively researched through direct fieldwork and conversations with local people. If the author hasn't been there — or cannot verify conditions on the ground — the route simply doesn't get published. Accuracy and authenticity are non-negotiable.
Free today. Free tomorrow. Always.
Turkey's landscapes, histories, and cultures belong to everyone — and so do the guides that help people discover them. All content on ÖMER MANDACI is free to read, with no paywalls, no premium tiers, and no email-gating. Good travel knowledge should not be a luxury. Whether you are planning a solo trek through the Kaçkar Mountains or a family drive along the Aegean coast, every detail here is yours to use, without conditions.
These principles also mean this site grows slowly and carefully. A new route is published only when the author is confident it is accurate, useful, and genuinely worth your time — not to fill a content calendar.
Whether you've spotted an error on a route, want to suggest a hidden path, or simply wish to share your own Turkey travel story — I'd love to hear from you. Every message is read personally.
Route suggestions, corrections & questions welcome. If you've walked a trail I haven't covered, spotted outdated information, or simply want to connect with a fellow traveler who loves Turkey's back roads — drop me a line. I read and respond to every message.
Response time is typically within 2–4 business days.
